Nicole & Steve // Married

The pictures pretty much sum up how amazing Steve and Nicole are!  A couple like this makes me fall in love with my job all over again!  Any bride who shows up for the ceremony at Cedar Creek Winery in pink sequin heels and quickly kicks them off in exchange for a pair of hunter boots is my kind of girl!  They didn't let the rain dampen the mood.  It was non stop laughs from beginning to end! During the portraits, Nicole commented how sad she was that she wouldn't be able to have photos with pumpkins.  Little did she know that I have a wee bit of a connection with the McMillan Farm given I keep my two horses there.   So off we went!  Then out comes the jean shirt adn some killer dance moves... yep... I was smitten again.  After some farm fun, we made our way to the Hotel Eldorado where she had beautifully decorated the room herself!  Talk about a bride with style.  With special shout out to Sugar Sweet Cake Company who made the three beautiful pink ombre cakes.  As well to Mom and Me Flowers who made the beautiful bouquets!

I wish you two many years of laughter together!  Thank you for all the laughs and smiles and the Irish Dancers :)  (Yes... I still talk about the dancers).

Karla

Steve surprised Nicole with Irish dancers during the reception.  Ummmm... yes... a secret love of mine too!!  I could hardly contain myself but had to remain composed and remember to take photos!

Brendon & Sasha // Married May 11, 2013

This gorgeous Courtney British Columbia wedding is near and dear to me!  Brendon has been a huge part of myself and my husband's lives for quite sometime.  He is pretty much family.  So I was beyond  excited to be able to be the official wedding photographer for Sasha and Brendon's big day.

The island has a bit of a reputation for being rainy. And rainy it was!  With a few umbrellas and a few flower girls who kept us smiling the whole time ( Aren't Liv and Silvy the most adorable flower girls?!) we were able to push through the torrential downpour of rain and capture some stunning images.  But then again, Sasha is a stunner of a bride and Brendon a dapper groom... so it makes my job a bit easier!

I wish you nothing more then years of happiness and a future of wonderful memories together!

Your Photographer,

Karla

Mark & Chisa // Married May 20, 2012

Where to begin!  This wedding is near and dear to both myself and my husband.  Our good friend Mark married Chisa, a gorgeous ballerina, who danced back into his life after being reconnected!  When he first mentioned Chisa to us, we knew he was smitten and it wouldn't be long until a ring would be adorning Chisa's finger!  It was such a privelege be part of their day and capturing all the moment's of their wedding!  Good friends, a beautiful bride (Mark looked alright too) and the beautiful city of Saskatoon, SK (... I was surprised... but the downtown really is goprgeous)... I couldn't have asked for anything more.  I also was able to work beside Sica Films... amazing talent!!!  Check out Mark and Chisa's clip here...

Sica Films: Mark and Chisa's weddding highlights  I am certain they would love an Okanagan wedding ;)

Thanks again to the both of you for letting myself and Levi share in your day!  We can't wait to share a lifetime of memories with you both... especially August long ones.. haha!

Karla

Ria & Trent ~ Engaged

When Ria and Trent first asked me up to their place in East Kelowna to see if it would be good for their engagement photos... I was nothing but eager for their session!  A apple orchard in bloom and a backyard view of Kelowna and the Okanagan that is nothing short of amazing!!  I was even more excited when they decided to hold their September 3rd wedding there as well!  I know I am a wee bit behind in blogging but hopefully, those will be coming shortly!!  Stay tuned :)

Myca & Jason - May 29, 2011

Okay... so this had to be one of the most spectacular venues I have ever been privileged to photograph!  Myca was a bridemaid in a wedding that I had previously photographed and had contacted me for her wedding.  When she emailed me the details and her venue choice, I was jumping around beyond excited to say the least.  Myca and Jason's wedding took place in Victoria, British Columbia at Hatley Castle.  Yes you read that right... castle!  The months even days leading up to this wedding felt like forever. This wedding was one of my highlights of the year!

Oh Myca... the dress and the shoes... the SHOES!  You both looked amazing and I am so glad that I was able to join you both with your friends and family on the island for your wedding! Many happy years to the both of you!

Dave & Shandra - September 25, 2010
When I was told this wedding was a backyard wedding, I had no idea a backyard wedding meant natural swimming pools, bamboo gardens, rivers and ponds that where accented with lily pads, stepping stones and bridges! It was one of the most amazing settings for a wedding with one of the most amazing couples! Dave and Shandra are just one of those couples that you can tell are meant to be with one another and just fit!

Thank you both for letting me be part of your wedding day! Many happy years to the both of you!

Karla :)

Project 365 Days of Photos

Starting January 1, 2011, I will start taking a photo a day for 365 days.  I am one of those people that tend to go hard out of the gate and then slowly lose wind.  I am really hoping that doesn't happen with this project but with all the support of the others who have joined the challenge, I am thinking I can do it!!

Here goes nothing....

Dave & Shandra - Engaged

Dave and Shandra were married September 25, 2010 as a friends beautiful estate as their setting (Blog coming soon)!  However, a few weeks before the wedding Shandra contacted me wanting not necessarily an engagement shoot but a "get rid of the wedding day photo jitters" shoot.  And l can not tell you how much they needed not to worry!  They were so natural and fun in front of the camera whispering "sweet nothings" (haha) to one another.

A pre-wedding shoot is always a good idea to become acquainted with  your photographer and to work out those photo jitters.  It also gives great opportunity to showcase your photos in a album for guests to sign on your wedding day!

Ivy Rose

My good friends Dan and Bailey recently welcomed their darling little girl, Ivy, into the world. I was so grateful to be asked to take her first portraits. If these photos are any indication of how beautiful she will grow up to be, she is going to be breaking hearts!

Lots of thanks and a huge shout out to Daniela Sitar for coming along and working her baby whispering skills on little Ivy!

Ed & Desirae & Boone

This shoot was alot of fun!  I was pretty excited when Ed and Desirae showed up and had the third member of their family Boone with them! The word of the day was "cookie".  Usually this is my bribe for toddlers but works well with four legged toddlers as well : )

I hope you both many more happy memories together!

Tim & Mel & Feen Bean

I came across this spot when I was riding my horse the other week and could not wait to shoot this location!  What better subjects then my good friends Tim and Mel who will be welcoming their baby into the world in February.  I was pretty excited about with how the location and my props all worked so well together!

Can't wait until February to meet the Feen Bean : )

Ashley & Kelsey ~ August 21, 2010

Ashley and Kelsey's ceremony was held at Belgo Wedding Chapel.  One of my favorite wedding isles in Kelowna!  Everyone chatted and laughed as they waited for Ashely to arrive making the atmosphere relaxed and joyous.  Andrew Allen (I figured out who he was the next day after singing along to his song on the radio)  played his guitar and sang as the whole wedding party and family members made their way down the isle.  Once the ceremony began, the the bride and groom had the biggest smiles that were accompanied throughout the proceedings with tears of joy and lots of laughter.

Ashley gave me full control over the locations with the exception of a vineyard that she had noticed and really wanted to stop and check out. It turned out to be an amazing spot!  The portrait session was relaxed and never short of laughs!  I couldn't have asked for it to go any better!

Thank you both so much for choosing me to share in one of the most important days of your life!  I wish you many years of happiness and many more wonderful memories!

Your Photographer,

Karla : )
